A new regional career academy launching this fall aims to give South Georgia students access to specialized workforce training years before they receive their diplomas.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment by ππ§π πππ₯ππ¨π¬ππ-ππ¨π°π§πππ¬ and its partners to prepare students for success and strengthen the future workforce of South Georgia.
This fall, WIN College & Career Academy will launch specialized workforce training programs designed to connect students directly to high-demand careers in healthcare, hospitality, emergency services, and more β all while they are still in high school.
Through partnerships with six South Georgia school systems, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Coastal Pines Technical College Valdosta State University, local industries, and community leaders, WIN is creating a stronger workforce pipeline and opening doors for students across our region.
WIN Board of Directors Chairman Tullis Beasley said the academy is built to bridge the gap between education and the workforce. Adding, βStudents will be able to walk into a career the day they graduate or be better prepared to continue their education at a technical college or university.β
As WIN CEO Jason Van Nus shared, this model gives students in smaller rural communities access to programs and career pathways they might not otherwise have. From EMT certification and advanced phlebotomy to hospitality training, students will gain hands-on experience, industry credentials, and direct connections to future employers.
