Mary Beth Brownlee, director of One Valdosta Lowndes, explains that through the Synergy 2030 Campaign, community leaders, residents, and partners are working together to address one of the most pressing challenges facing Valdosta and communities across Georgia — housing affordability. In partnership with Georgia Tech, a neighborhood housing redevelopment study was completed to help guide future revitalization efforts and create new opportunities for families and the workforce.
Now, the next phase begins. The steering committee is actively implementing recommendations for the Tom Town area, focusing on neighborhood revitalization, quality housing, and community-driven improvements.
This 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟔, OVL will participate in the 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲, where they will ask residents to share their hopes and ideas for neighborhood improvements. From park improvements and youth amenities like a new basketball court to the redevelopment of vacant and underutilized properties.
These conversations matter. Community input will help shape the future of housing, growth, and revitalization efforts in Valdosta-Lowndes County for years to come.
